Yamil Piedra and Johnny Trabanco are A PAIR OF NUTS!
This Emmy winning comedy duo has been performing together since 1998 where they met in college at Florida International University in Miami, FL. Selected as “Hot Comedy” by Campus Activities Magazine, their online videos have been featured all over the internet garnering millions of views worldwide. The Nuts have toured the US performing at various venues including colleges, military bases, and comedy clubs nationwide. They were nominated for Best Comedy and Entertainer of the Year for the 2012 Campus Activities Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards. And in 2012, the Nuts were invited to close out the South Beach Comedy Festival, a Comedy Central Live Event that features the best comedians in the world.
With an ever-growing fan base thanks to their online videos and live tour, the Nuts have been featured on Last Call with Carson Daly, Tosh.0, VH1, Discovery Channel, and BET. They were the stars and writers of MegaTV’s El Vacilon, a Spanish language sketch comedy show where they worked with some of the biggest Hispanic celebrities including Wilmer Valderrama, Tony Plana, and Luis Guzman, to name a few. The show earned Yamil and Johnny and Emmy Award for writing.
Their live stage show is an award winning multimedia sketch comedy show that features hilarious sketches, off the wall short videos, costumes, music, and madness. And even though they’re Hispanic, they don’t limit themselves to Latin themed comedy. ABOUT YAMIL PIEDRA
Yamil was born in Havana, Cuba and arrived in Miami in 1980 by way of the famous Mariel boatlift. His journey into comedy began in 1997 while in college. He’s appeared on Last Comic Standing, Comic View, Las Vegas, Boston Legal, & Burn Notice. Yamil has also taken part in several stand up comedy showcases including Comedy Central’s Open Mic Fight, NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity, and a Just for Laughs Showcase. In 2007, he was featured in Ocean Drive Espańol Magazine’s “En Caliente” (What’s Hot) section.
ABOUT JOHNNY TRABANCO
Johnny was born in Miami to Cuban Parents and has been performing comedy since 1998. He’s taken part in several stand up comedy competitions in the South Florida area including taking the top prize in the first ever Miami Improv Comedy Derby and the Annual Miami Improv Turkey Contest. Johnny has worked with a number of touring comics including Doug Benson, Christian Finnegan, and Jo Koy.
